phoenix|x-ray Systems + Services GmbH once again reports an excellent fiscal year. With a turnover of 24 Mil EUR, phoenix|x-ray, the worldwide operating specialist for X-ray technology, increased sales by 35% compared to 2003.
With this outstanding result the company which is headquartered close to Hanover in the state Lower Saxony has also given a positive impact on the regional employment quota. Meanwhile staff amounts to more than 70 employees. Particularly the number of engineers in the research and development department has been increased. “We see this an investment into the future” says Helmut Appelt, General Manager of the company. “Our goal is to keep our position of the market leader in our segement which means we always need to be ahead our our competitors when it comes to developing new products.”
One successful example of this strategy is the launch of the product series v|tome|x in 2002. v|tome|x is an X-ray system that combines both 3D computed tomography and 2D inspection with submicron resolution.
The demand for computed tomography has increased massively during the last couple of years leading to an interesting market potential. phoenix|x-ray´s reaction to this development was to set-up a new business department for CT. Besides dedicated highly stable X-ray tubes and precision manipulation units the company also offers its own reconstruction software.
Despite the growth of the 3D inspection business phoenix|x-ray still sees new applications for 2D inspection. The latest masterpieces x|argos that has been introduced to the public in mid April is a high kV X-ray system for large samples up to 100 kg. The market potential for this type of system is enormous due to new materials and production techniques specially in the automotive industry that require high resolution X-ray inspection. The new products in the field of NDT and specially computed tomography have led to the necessity of extending production capacities at the company´s headquarters in Wunstorf. The building of a new production hall is about to start very soon. The 2500 m² measuring building will be equiped with the latest production tools for building customised system of almost any dimension. In addition a new demo center will offer the customers a com-pletely new experience of non-destructive testing.
