CAMARILLO, Calif. – September 17, 2002 – phoenix|x-ray Systems + Services Inc., a leading supplier of micro-focus and nano-focus x-ray inspection systems, announced it had received an order for five OVHM4™ inspection systems from a leading US-based semiconductor manufacturer. The systems will be delivered before year-end and will be used for advanced inspection of semiconductor packages.
“This order reflects yet another significant stride as we
continue to broaden our customer base and get more tier-one manufacturers using
our industry-leading technology,” stated phoenix|x-ray president, Adrian Wilson.
“The key to this order and our previous success is two-fold: we offer advanced
technology that works to specification and we give excellent service on a global
basis. With innovation keeping us ahead of the pack, we believe we will continue
to grow at similar levels year-on-year as we further penetrate the
semiconductor, printed circuit board and non-destructive testing
markets.”
The OVHM4, launched earlier this year, is a dual detector
module combining a conventional image intensifier and contrast sensitive image
detector. The tool is based on oblique view at highest magnification (ovhm)
technology and is capable of generating multiple angle real-time x-ray images of
the same sample with both detectors offering an infinitely adjustable
penetration angle. This allows the operator to quickly detect failures in
interconnects and quantify failures, such as excessive voiding, all in one
system.
As a result of this and sales related to other advanced
technologies launched in the last 12 months, phoenix|x-ray has seen its order
intake double from 2001. In 2001, phoenix|x-ray launched several industry-firsts
which have been the catalyst for this growth. These include the phoenix|sentry,
the first fully automated ball grid array (BGA) inspection system with wetting
analysis and the Nanofocus analyser series, the only system available on the
market capable of achieving a focal spot of less than one micron. phoenix|x-ray
offer a full array of advanced x-ray inspection systems shipping over 350 units
since launching the company mid-1999.
